About the event

The Sacred Void: A Solar Eclipse Plant Medicine Retreat

Enter the quiet embrace of the redwoods in Santa Cruz for a three-day journey into stillness, release, and transformation. Gathering at the threshold of the New Moon and a rare solar eclipse, we enter one of nature’s most powerful symbolic moments: the space between what has ended and what has not yet taken form.

In the Andean cosmological understanding, transformation is not a linear process. Life moves through cycles of emergence, growth, completion, dissolution, and renewal. There are moments when the most conscious action is not to move forward, but to return to stillness, to allow what has completed its cycle to fall away and create space for something new to emerge.

This retreat invites us into that space.

Through plant medicine, ceremony, meditation, embodiment, and connection with the natural world, we explore the fertile emptiness that exists before creation. We release the need to control what comes next and turn our attention toward what is asking to be cleared, surrendered, and transformed.

Why the New Moon and Solar Eclipse?

On February 6, 2027, the New Moon coincides with an annular solar eclipse, creating a powerful celestial alignment in which the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, temporarily obscuring the Sun’s light.

Entering the Darkness:

The waning Moon naturally brings the lunar cycle toward completion. Its diminishing light offers a symbolic invitation to turn inward, simplify, and release what no longer needs to accompany us into the next cycle.

The Power of the Void:

The space of darkness is not an absence of life. Beneath the surface, seeds are germinating, roots are growing, and transformation is already taking place. The void represents the unseen stage of creation, the place where possibilities exist before they become form.

Surrender and Transformation:

The eclipse becomes a reminder that light and darkness are not opposites but movements within the same cosmic rhythm. By temporarily stepping away from what is familiar, we create the conditions to see differently, feel more deeply, and allow transformation to unfold.

Returning to the Source

This journey is an invitation to release the identities, patterns, expectations, and attachments that have completed their purpose. Rather than immediately replacing them with new goals, we create space to simply be present with what remains.

Through the medicine experience, we enter a deeper relationship with ourselves and with the living world. The redwoods become companions in this process, rooted, patient, and continuously transforming through cycles far greater than the individual human experience.

In the Andean worldview, we are part of a living relationship between Earth, cosmos, and consciousness. Transformation becomes meaningful when it restores balance and reciprocity within that relationship.

This retreat is a passage through the unseen.

A time to release.

A time to listen.

A time to become still enough to recognize what is waiting to emerge.

Before the new cycle begins, there is the void.

And within the void, everything is possible.
